Rap artist Sayed Jamal Mubarez won the Afghan Star music contest on Tuesday night, after beating the first female finalist, Zulala Hashimi.
 
This was the first time that a female musician has reached the finals of Afghan Star.
 
"I am so happy to have won Afghan Star. I would have been happy if Zulala had won it because women in Afghanistan live in a restricted situation so it is an achievement for her that she made it to the finals." Mubarez said.
 
At the end of the contest Mubarez presented the Afghan Star Award to Zulala Hashimi.
 
“I would like to present the award of the winner to Zulala,” Mubarez said.
