Two Afghan Men Held For ‘Raping’ Student In Delhi

Two Afghan nationals have been arrested for allegedly raping a 21-year-old Jawaharlal Nehru University student in south Delhi’s Green Park area.

The Indian Express reported that a senior police officer said preliminary investigation revealed that both the accused are living in India as refugees.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (south district) Chinmoy Biswal said the accused have been identified as Twaab Ahmed alias Saleem (27) and Sulaiman Ahmadi (31).

“Both men are from Afghanistan and live in Delhi on a UNHCR card. Saleem is an event manager, while Sulaiman is unemployed. Saleem has been here for the last 10 years, while Sulaiman has been here for two years,” he said.

The two suspects are currently being held in custody, Biswal said.
