At least two security forces were killed in a Taliban attack on Wednesday night in northern Baghlan province, local officials said on Thursday.
The attack took place in Nahrain district at a security checkpoint, said Bismillah Atash, a member of the provincial council.
“The clashes continued until morning and no reinforcements were sent to the area to support the troops,” Atash said, adding that “ the district police headquarters was only a few kilometers from the area.”
The Taliban stole the security forces' equipment after the attack, according to a local security source.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.
Baghlan police have not yet commented.
