Two Top Taliban Leaders In Samangan Killed In Operations

Taliban’s shadow deputy- governor and shadow district governor for Samangan province and six other insurgents were killed during special forces operations in Samangan on Saturday, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement Sunday.

The statement said that Mawlawi Jalal, Taliban’s shadow deputy governor for Samangan, and Mawlawi Gheyasuddin, known as Mujaheed, the shadow district governor for Doab district of Samangan province were among those killed.

The statement said that the targeted operation was conducted in Ab Khorak area of Doab district.

Fifteen other insurgents were wounded during the operation, statement added.

Meanwhile in a separate clash between security forces and insurgents, in Farah province, at least six insurgents were killed and 10 others were wounded in the past 48 hours, Farah security officials said.

According to officials the clash started when dozens of Taliban insurgents attacked several security checkpoints in the province.

Security officials said there were no casualties among security forces and but the insurgent group sustained a number of casualties.
