The acting Minister of Information and Culture, Khairullah Khairkhwa, emphasized the need to return smuggled artifacts to the country on International Museum Day.
Khairkhwa stated that individuals involved in the smuggling of historical artifacts should be handed over to judicial authorities.
The acting Minister of Information and Culture said, "If a person smuggles a historical artifact, they should be seen as having blame, and if they are not involved in smuggling, they should return the item."
According to him, the interim government has prevented the smuggling of 1,500 historical and ancient artifacts out of the country in the past three years.
Meanwhile, officials at the National Museum have inaugurated three exhibitions of the Bronze Age, Ai-Khanum, the Islamic period, and a specialized restoration section of the National Museum.
Wali Gul Jawad, the Cultural Director of Kabul Municipality, said, "In terms of raising public awareness and educating people through exhibitions and other educational programs, efforts are underway to make the Afghanistan Museum an unparalleled museum in the region."
Sibghatullah Abid, the Director of the National Museum, said, "All the people of Afghanistan have a share in this, and we expect all citizens to cooperate with us in this regard."
The Deputy Minister of Finance, Administration, and Tourism of the Ministry of Information and Culture announced the creation of a Jihadi Museum in the near future in the country.
Saaduddin Saeed, Deputy Minister of Finance, Administration, and Tourism of the Ministry of Information and Culture, said, "we have a large area, and the good news is that the Islamic Emirate has decided to establish a Jihadi Museum in the country."
International Museum Day is an international event held annually on May 18 by the International Council of Museums to protect ancient and historical artifacts.
