Afghan, Indian Modeling Artists Share The Stage In Kabul

A group of Afghan and Indian modeling artists shared the stage to showcase the culture of the two neighboring countries at a ceremony on 73rd Independence Day of India at Indian Embassy in Kabul on Thursday evening.

“I believe [that] art and culture is a language spoken by all,” said Charu Das, head of the Indian cultural group. “So I thought of bringing my cultural troupe here.”

“The cultures of our countries are very close. If we work on Indian and Afghan colors in our designs, there is something extraordinary and I want to work on that in the future,” said Jyoti, an Indian designer.

The Indian designers said they are willing to work together with Afghan women if the opportunity is provided to them.

“I have met one of the most inspiring women... I mean they are so well educated. They are mastering in their fields actually,” said Mansi Midha, a modeling artist.

Head of an Afghan modeling group, Ajmal Haqiqi, who participated in the show said working with Indian artists is a great experience.

“We showcased Afghan clothing and culture in this program. We hope that such events will be held in the future to strengthen relations between Afghanistan and India,” Mr. Haqiqi said.
