Afghans Exported '1M Square Meters' of Carpets in 1400

The Union of Carpet Producers and Exporters said that due to unemployment in other areas, the number of carpet weavers has increased and more than one million square meters of carpets were exported to various countries last year.

According to union officials, most Afghan carpets are exported to Europe and Pakistan.

“Production has increased by 20 percent because of unemployment, it has increased in terms of weaving, our production has increased,” said Mohammad Asef Yaqoubi, a member of the Carpet Producers and Exporters Union.

Meanwhile, some carpet exporters are concerned about the lack of flights and the closing of air corridors and asked the Islamic Emirate to facilitate the export of carpets.

“The air corridors are closed, we do not have visa facilities, we export a bit through Pakistan,” said Mohammad Rafi, a carpet seller.

“The carpet market is not so good and our sales have decreased in the past,” said Shadab, a carpet seller.

Carpet weaving is a long-standing, traditional profession in Afghanistan, especially in the villages.
