Over 76,000 Tons of Commodities Exported from Herat: Officials

Officials within the Chamber of Commerce and Investment of Herat said that more than 76,000 tons of commodities have been exported to various countries from this province.

Based on the statistics provided by the chamber, the commodities are worth of $102 million.

This is a 15 percent increase compared to the previous year.

“In 1401, 76,300 tons of various types of commodities have been exported to the gulf states, US, EU and neighboring countries,” said Mohammad Younus Qazizada, head of the chamber.

The union of exporters in the western zone said that the rate of export would increase if they were provided with more facilities.

“To reach out to better markets in European countries, the Ministry of Commerce can facilitate commerce opportunities through the establishment of exhibitions abroad, so that we can display Afghanistan’s products for foreigners and thus we can get access to better markets,” said Mehdi Akrami, deputy head of the union.

The local officials in Herat meanwhile pledged to provide further facilities for the traders in the country.

“The local government of Herat welcomes the increase in exports and is ready to help the investors in this regard,” said Nisar Ahmad Elyas, a spokesman for the Herat governor.

Commodities from Herat have been exported to 25 countries around the world.
