Chromium Mine Extraction Agreement Signed with Private Company

The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum has signed an agreement with a private company for extraction at a chromium mine in the Zazai Maidan district of Khost province.

Officials said that according to the agreement, for the next five years more than 11,000 tons of chromium will be extracted, and 118 million afghani in revenue will be collected. 

“The total amount from this mine is 11,300 tons that will be worth 118 million Afghani and 650,000 Afghani for tge Islamic Emirate,” said Sadeq Jan, head of the mines and petroleum department in Khost. 

“The protection of this mine is provided for by the government,” said Mohammad Anwar Din Parwar, deputy governor of Khost. 

According to officials, the price of one ton of chromite in this mine is 10,500 afghani, and work has been provided for 200 people in the mine. 

“We have three other agreements, two of them are in the Gurbuz district and one of them is in the Tani district,” said Sadiq Jan. 

“We are happy with this agreement and work will be provided for needy people,” said Ghafor, a local resident. 

“Work should be provided for youth because most of them are jobless,” said Mohammad Rafiq Chinar, a local resident. 

 According to local officials, the contracted company is supposed to spend 800,000 Afghanis for social services and environmental beautification in the area.
