The Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC) said that a shipment of pomegranate juice drinks was exported from Afghanistan to the US for the first time.
The pomegranate soft drinks were produced by a company in Herat.
The export of this domestic product, according to the ministry's spokesperson Akhundzad Abdul Salam Javad, is a significant step in the growth of the country's economy.
"Recently, two containers carrying 45 tons of Pamir Cola Company pomegranate juice drinks were shipped to America. Also, drinks have been shipped to Germany and Kazakhstan, there are plans for expansion in this area so that we can boost our exports to other countries,” the spokesman noted.
In the meantime, the company's sales manager said that this company has also shipped to Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Central Asian nations.
According to some economists, expanding domestic product exports could help Afghanistan's economy grow and provide employment opportunities for the people.
"The country will encourage more investments and the credit of the investment will increase when the export increases and the government provide more facilities,” said Abdul Nasir Reshtia, an economist.
This comes as the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, organized the second one-week national and international exhibition of Imam Abu Hanifa with the participation of hundreds of foreign and domestic businessmen, which ended today (Saturday).
