Ministry of Mines and Petroleum Prepares for Start of TAPI Project

The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said that all preparations have been made for the commencement of the TAPI project.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, Homayoun Afghan, said that security is ensured in the country, and the challenges related to land acquisition for the TAPI project route have been resolved.

He called on regional countries to begin work on the project.

The spokesman for the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said: "It is one of the major projects. There have been multiple problems, including security, technical, and land acquisition issues in Afghanistan, but many problems have been resolved, and minor issues remain, which will hopefully be resolved soon."

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Information of Pakistan said that a delegation, including the Deputy Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan, visited Islamabad and agreed with Pakistan's Minister of Energy to accelerate the TAPI project.

Pakistani and Turkmen officials emphasized the importance of the TAPI project in reducing energy costs, creating jobs, and economic development in the region.

"The TAPI project is a major regional project that meets the gas needs of four countries: Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. However, unless the issues between Pakistan and India are resolved, I don't think the implementation of this project will be feasible," Shaker Yaqubi, an economic analyst, told TOLOnews.

But what are the obstacles to this project?

"The main problem in starting this project is budget issues, and the funding needs to be addressed," said Khan Jan Alokozay, a member of the ACCI’s board of directors.

This comes as the road construction for the Mes Aynak project began yesterday, and it is expected that the CASA-1000 project will also start in the near future.
