Citizens Demand Price Reductions Beyond Tax Cuts

The Ministry of Finance reported that in the past three years, various taxes have been reduced under the orders of the Islamic Emirate leader.

According to this ministry, reducing taxes in the healthcare, commercial, and agricultural sectors, for businesses, fuel tanks, and educational institutions has facilitated the growth and progress of small businesses and domestic industry.

Ahmad Wali Haqmal, spokesman for the Ministry of Finance, said: "The exemption and reduction of taxes by the Islamic Emirate have led to the growth of domestic industry and small businesses, and have provided good opportunities for their development."

Ahmad Wali Haqmal added that the ministry aims to lower prices in the country’s markets through tax reductions and exemptions on customs duties.

Meanwhile, some citizens claim that despite the reduction in taxes for businesses and fuel tanks, this has not had a positive effect on lowering prices.

Javed, a driver, said: "Taxes should be reduced further and fuel prices should also be lowered so that we can expand our businesses."

Abdul Ghafoor, another driver, said: "We ask the Islamic Emirate to pay special attention to price reductions, especially for gas and fuel, as businesses are facing a decline."

Other citizens also say that without serious monitoring of commodity prices, tax reductions will only benefit traders.
According to them, improving the tax collection system and increasing transparency could help reduce tax evasion and increase financial fairness.

Bilal, a shopkeeper, said: "If you go to the shopkeeper, he says he bought from traders; if you go to traders, they say they bought from outside. The costs have increased for us and the tax has gone up, but when you ask about taxes, they say they have reduced them."

Lutfullah Rahman, a resident, said: "We request the government send responsible individuals to the markets to reduce material prices so that our fellow citizens can be at ease."

This comes as a month ago, the Islamic Emirate reduced taxes on restaurants, hotels, and fuel and gas stations.
