73 New NGOs Licensed by Ministry of Economy This Year

Abdul Rahman Habib, spokesperson for the Ministry of Economy, said that since the beginning of the solar year until now, this ministry has issued operating licenses for 73 non-governmental organizations.

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Economy added that among the 73 non-governmental organizations, two are foreign entities.

According to Abdul Rahman Habib, currently, a total of 2,477 non-governmental organizations, including 2,199 domestic and 278 foreign entities, are operating across the country.

Abdul Rahman Habib told TOLOnews: "From the beginning of the fiscal year 1403 until now, 71 domestic and two foreign organizations have received operating licenses from the Ministry of Economy.

The Ministry of Economy urges all aid and funding organizations to focus on development aid in addition to humanitarian aid to support household economies and create job opportunities for people."

Meanwhile, the Chamber of Industries and Mines has deemed the activities of both domestic and foreign non-governmental organizations effective in creating job opportunities and fostering the country's economic growth, stressing that organizations engaged in humanitarian assistance should allocate their funds to infrastructure projects.

Sakhi Ahmad Paiman, the First Deputy of the Chamber of Industries and Mines, told TOLOnews: "If more facilities are provided to non-governmental organizations and their operational processes are made easier, it will certainly lead to more employment opportunities."

Abdul Zahoor Madbar, an economic affairs expert, said: "We should also focus on a productive economy to develop infrastructure. Some of the foreign aid funds can be directed towards infrastructure, which in the long term can benefit Afghanistan's economy."

Based on information from the Ministry of Economy, around 2,194 projects, including humanitarian, emergency, and semi-development aid projects, were implemented by domestic and foreign non-governmental organizations across the country last year, providing employment opportunities for 300,000 people.
