Head of Afghan Business Council in UAE Meets Intl Envoys

Haji Obaidullah Saderkhail, the head of the Afghan Business Council in the United Arab Emirates, held separate meetings with the German Ambassador for Afghanistan and the United Nations Humanitarian Aid Coordinator, discussing how aid can be provided to Afghanistan.

In these meetings, there were discussions about Germany's cooperation with Afghanistan's private sector and how aid can contribute to job creation in the country.

Haji Obaidullah Saderkhail said that in the global coordination group meeting in Dubai, which started on Monday and concludes today (Friday), emphasis was placed on aiding the people of Afghanistan and completing the previous government's projects.

The head of the Afghan Business Council in the UAE said: "The people of Afghanistan are facing problems, and aid should focus on infrastructure projects to create jobs for the people. Instead of giving them fish, teach them how to fish. This kind of aid— a bag of rice, wheat, and oil— lasts for one month, but what will the people do next month? The best approach is to make investments that create employment for the people."

Representatives of the United Nations, UNAMA, the World Bank, embassies based in Dubai, the US chargé d'affaires for Afghanistan, and businessmen participated in this meeting.

Meanwhile, some economic experts believe that the assistance of world countries and aid organizations to Afghanistan in the field of infrastructure is crucial, and it is necessary for the commitments made in these meetings to be implemented.

"Regarding the promised aid, it is better for these promises to be fulfilled, as unemployment in Afghanistan has sharply increased, and poverty is growing day by day," said Abdul Shukoor Hadawal, an economic expert.

"Countries that have come together to help Afghanistan and are paying attention to this issue must continue their assistance. This is one of the positive points. However, the main issue is how we use these aids and how we manage them. If this aid is only focused on food security, and poverty is only addressed from one specific angle, it will merely be a repetition of the past," said Sayed Masood, another economic expert.

Meanwhile, the Afghan Business Council in the UAE held a meeting on September 28 and 29 this year with the participation of representatives of international organizations, where investment opportunities and the economic development of the country were discussed.
