The Ministry of Public Works reported that over 347,000 tons of goods were transported via the country’s railway system in the month of Mizan this solar year.

Mohammad Ashraf Haqshinas, the ministry’s spokesperson, said that over 7,000 tons of this total consisted of exports.

According to Haqshinas, the imports this month included petroleum and non-petroleum products, while exports consisted of dried fruits, mineral stones, and fruit juice.

The transportation volume in the month of Mizan 1403 via Afghanistan’s railway lines is as follows:
•    Hairatan Port: 245,480 tons
•    Aqina Port: 49,121 tons
•    Torghundi Port: 52,181 tons
•    Khaf-Herat Line: 780 tons

Mohammad Ashraf Haqshinas, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Works, said: "From the beginning to the end of Mizan 1403, a total of 347,563 metric tons were transported through the Ministry of Public Works’ railway lines in Afghanistan."

Meanwhile, the Chamber of Commerce and Investment considers transportation through railways essential for reducing costs and preventing the spoilage of export goods.

Khan Jan Alokozai, a board member of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, said: "Railways are a crucial means for transporting goods, and we should fully utilize them. One of the Islamic Emirate’s responsibilities in Afghanistan, after providing electricity, is to develop railway and road infrastructure."

Abdul Shakoor Hadawal, an economic expert, said: "If Afghanistan has exports, it not only saves time but also makes transportation cheaper for traders and ensures higher quality and quantity when shipping to other countries."

According to the Ministry of Public Works, Afghanistan currently has 260 kilometers of active railways, connecting the country to Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Iran, and providing daily transportation to countries in the region.
