90% of Pul-e-Kheshti Underground Market Completed

Kabul Municipality has announced that the construction of the underground market in the Pul-e-Kheshti area of Kabul city is over 90% complete.

Nematullah Barakzai, a representative of the municipality, stated that the purpose of constructing this underground facility is to reduce urban congestion and establish commercial centers.

Pul-e-Kheshti is one of the historic and busy areas of Kabul city, known for its constant hustle and bustle in all conditions and times.

Speaking to TOLOnews, the Kabul Municipality representative said: “An underground facility is being constructed in the Pul-e-Kheshti Mosque area, which is more than 90% complete. The main objective is to establish commercial centers and eliminate street vendors in the area.”

This underground market has six access points for customers and is comprised of 360 shops.

Ajmal, one of the employees of the underground project, told TOLOnews: “This is a national and valuable project with 360 shops and six entrances.”

Kabul residents also believe that the establishment of this commercial market will effectively reduce urban congestion and have called for the construction of more such underground facilities in various parts of the capital.

Abdul Hamid, a Kabul resident, said: “Building this underground market is a great initiative. It will relieve people from the challenges of congestion, and our fellow citizens can make good use of this convenient facility.”

Since the return of the Islamic Emirate to power, construction efforts have been launched in various sectors, including roads, canals, green spaces, and commercial centers.
