ENTIKHABAT 98: Differences Between IEC and IECC Over Vote Recount

Officials from the Independent Election Commission (IEC) on Saturday told the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission (IECC) that the votes of 1,372 polling sites weren’t in need of a recount. This is from a total number of 5,500 polling sites that were previously marked for a recount at the request of the IECC.

On Saturday, Habiburrahman Nang, the head of the IEC’s secretariat, said that based on the report submitted to the IECC, a recount of 3,300 polling sites will take place but not 5,500 sites.

But officials from the IECC meanwhile said that the complaints commission, after finalizing 3,300 complaint appeals, will issue its final verdict on whether to recount other sites.

In this episode host Karim Amini discusses the topic with the following guests:

Mohammad Naeem Ayoubzada, head of the Transparent Election Foundation of Afghanistan (TEFA)

Shafaq Khawati, a member of Ghani’s team

Amanddin Manawi, a member of Abdullah’s campaign team
