86 COVID-19 Deaths Reported in Afghanistan in 24 Hours

The Ministry of Public Health on Wednesday reported 1,575 new positive cases of COVID-19 out of 4,452 samples tested in the last 24 hours.  

The ministry also reported 86 deaths and 537 recoveries from COVID-19 in the same period. 

Afghanistan has so far recorded 109,532 positive cases and 4,452 deaths from COVID-19.

On Tuesday, Wahid Majrooh, the acting minister of Public Health said that the situation in the country will be "critical" in terms of COVID-19 infections for another week. 

“The situation has not changed and the closing of schools, universities and the restricted access to government ministries will continue,” he said.   

According to Johns Hopkins University, the number of deaths from COVID-19 globally is more than 3,883,429 and the number of known global coronavirus cases is 179,194,672.
