In the past month, the number of severe diarrhea patients in the country has reached eight thousand.
According to the Ministry of Public Health, this statistic indicates a slight increase in the number of diarrhea cases in the country.
Sharafat Zaman Amarkhil, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Health, said: "Approximately eight thousand cases of diarrhea have been recorded with us. The conditions of these patients were not severe; they were provided with normal services."
Farooq has been admitted to the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Kabul for two nights. He says that his father fell ill due to consuming unsanitary food.
Sayed Suliman, Farooq's son, told TOLOnews, "He had eaten samosas from the market, which initially caused him stomach cramps. Later, when we consulted a doctor, we were referred to the Infectious Diseases Hospital."
Meanwhile, some doctors at the Infectious Diseases Hospital also report that between 50 to 60 patients visit the hospital daily.
Ihsanullah Hakimi, a doctor said: "Approximately 200 to 250 new cases of illness come to us daily, out of which 50 to 60 cases of diarrhea are recorded."
Late last solar year, the Japanese Embassy in Afghanistan donated nearly $7 million to the World Health Organization to reduce the mortality rate from infectious diseases in the country.
