The Ministry of Public Health reported that Noor Jalal Jalali, the acting Minister of Public Health, has traveled to Switzerland and met with the Director-General of the World Health Organization.
According to Sharafat Zaman Amarkhil, the spokesman for the Ministry of Public Health, Jalali discussed with officials from partner organizations in the health sector about controlling contagious diseases, eradicating polio, and standardizing health services in Afghanistan during this trip.
Amarkhil added that officials from international organizations have expressed their commitment to continuous cooperation with Afghanistan.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Health said: "The officials of the mentioned institutions pledged their assistance to the health sector of Afghanistan and pledged to continuously cooperate with the Afghan health sector. The Ministry of Public Health is trying to provide standard health services to our compatriots with its budget and in cooperation with partner organizations."
According to Amarkhil, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, in his meeting with Noor Jalal Jalali pledged the fulfillment of the health needs of Afghan citizens, especially women and children.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, added that in addition to discussing the eradication of polio and preventing the spread of contagious diseases, they also discussed the vital importance of ensuring Afghan women's access to educational and job opportunities.

Some doctors in the country called these meetings beneficial for improving the provision of health services in the country.
"Diseases such as polio, tuberculosis, HIV, or hepatitis are serious concerns. The only solution is for the government or the Ministry of Public Health to convince the international community that Afghanistan has the capability to eradicate, control, or diagnose these diseases," said Munir Ahmad Kamal, a doctor.
"The visit of the Afghan Minister of Public Health to the World Health Organization has very positive outcomes in controlling contagious diseases," said Habib Rahman Ludin, another doctor.
This is the first trip of the acting Minister of Public Health to Switzerland since his appointment to this position. Most of the country's health sector relies on international aid.
