A 22-bed hospital has been built in the Sargul area of Aryob Zazi district of Paktia province at a cost of $1 million by a citizen of the country.
This hospital primarily operates in the field of obstetrics and gynecology and provides free healthcare services to the local community.
Sulaiman Saleh, the head of the hospital, told TOLOnews: "Around one million dollars have been spent on this hospital, and this [aid] process will continue as much as we can."
Noor Jalal Jalali, the acting Minister of Public Health, pledged efforts to standardize healthcare services in the country during the inauguration ceremony of this hospital. Jalali admitted that healthcare services in the country have been substandard and that many areas still lack access to healthcare services.
The acting Minister of Public Health added: "There are about 400 districts across the country, but there are hospitals in only 93 districts. We have many 'white areas' where there are no clinics or hospitals."
Residents of Aryob Zazi district are delighted with the opening of this hospital and urge the authorities to address the shortage of female doctors, medicine, and other challenges in the region.
Sammad Zazi, a tribal elder, said: "Due to the lack of professional doctors, equipment, and poor roads, many patients lose their lives."
This hospital has been built on the slopes of the Koh-e-Safed in the Aryob Zazi district, an area where residents have complained about the poor condition of the road leading to this region.
