The Ministry of Public Health reports that six polio vaccination campaigns have been launched across the country in the current year.
Sharafat Zaman Amarkhil, the ministry's spokesperson, stated that out of these, three were supplementary campaigns, two were nationwide campaigns, and one was a special campaign, vaccinating millions of children.
The spokesperson said: "Since the beginning of 2024, six polio vaccination campaigns have been implemented across the country, including two national campaigns, three supplementary campaigns, and one special campaign."
Some residents of the capital are urging the Ministry of Public Health to intensify its efforts to combat and eradicate this disease from the country. They also emphasized the importance of raising public awareness about the benefits of polio vaccination.
Rahim, a Kabul resident, said: "It would be better if those participating in vaccination campaigns are given proper guidance, and my request to families is to pay serious attention to their advice."
Jawad, another Kabul resident, stated: "Vaccinators travel to remote areas of Afghanistan to administer the vaccine. They should encourage families to help prevent and curb the spread of this disease."
Several doctors consider the cooperation of health organizations and families essential in the effort to eradicate this disease from the country.
Dr. Roheed said, "Our request to the international community or foreign organizations is to assist in the fight against polio so that we can eradicate it."
According to the Ministry of Public Health, no positive cases of this disease have been reported in the country since the beginning of the current year.
