Afghanistan: 866 New Positive COVID-19 Cases

The Ministry of Public Health reported 866 new positive cases of COVID-19 from 1,425 samples tested in the last 24 hours--a record daily count.

The ministry also reported three COVID-19 deaths and 44 recovered patients in the country in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, 411 new positive cases of COVID-19 were reported in Kabul out of 707 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

The positive cases were reported in Kabul (411), Herat (177), Balkh (39), Nangarhar (35), Takhar (29), Paktia (28), Parwan (27), Badghis (26), Baghlan (19), Kunduz (16), Kapisa (15), Ghazni (10), Panjshir (6), Badakhshan (4), Wardak (3) and Faryab (2).

Cases were reported in 16 provinces, with the most in Kabul (411), and the least in Faryab (2).

COVID-19 deaths were reported in Paktia, Logar and Farah – one death in each province.

The 44 recovered cases were in Kabul (6), Herat (17), Badghis (16), and Kunduz (5).

The total number of deaths reached 249, while recovered cases are at 1,303.

The total active cases are 12,973, according to the ministry, while the total of confirmed cases is 14,525.

So far, the ministry has tested 37,348 samples countrywide.
