Chinese Experts Share COVID-19 Lessons Learned with Afghans

Chinese experts, in a video conference with envoys from 15 regional countries including Afghanistan, shared their experience of containing the spread of the coronavirus, which has wreaked havoc globally, killing over 100,000 people worldwide.

Afghan authorities joined the conference from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, as Chinese officials vowed to provide technical support for the campaign against the spread of COVID-19 in Afghanistan.

“China is willing to extend our full help to the Afghan people. We are good brothers. We are good partners. We are good neighbors. So, China is willing to help as much as we can. I think from Chinese government, from Chinese companies, from Chinese foundations, as well as from Chinese embassy, we are going to extend our assistance to the Afghan people,” said Wang Yu, China’s ambassador to Afghanistan.

The deputy minister of foreign affairs for economy, Mirwais Nayab, who also attended the conference, said a flight carrying technical equipment for the prevention of the coronavirus will arrive in Afghanistan from China in the near future.

“We expect that the first shipment will arrive on April 1, and another is due next week,” Nayab said.

This comes as so far 24 cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Afghanistan.
