Women’s Volleyball Finals: Herat vs Iran-Based Afghans

The Herat women’s volleyball team and the Afghan team from Iran have made their way to the final round of the 15th Women's Volleyball Championship.

The two teams will play on Friday.

Ten teams competed in the championship, which took place over the past week.

Both teams played their semi-final games in Kabul on Thursday.

Herat on Thursday faced the Red Crescent team and won 0-3.

The Iran-based Afghan women's team beat the Kabul municipality team.

“The level of the games were quite different, there was good media coverage and this further adds to the inspiration of the girls,” said Zahra Fayazi, the head of the Women’s Volleyball Federation.

“Alongside our motivation for a victory, we also came to see our country, because we are migrants there and we are enthusiastic to come and demonstrate our ability,” said Fatima, member of the Iran-based team.

“The games were quite professional compared to previous years. The teams which came from the provinces have gained a lot of ability,” said Mursal, a member of the Kabul municipality women’s volleyball team.
