Ali Arabzada, an Afghan national futsal team player, has died in Iran.

Officials at the Afghanistan Football Federation on the futsal committee have confirmed his death, but said it is still not clear how he died.

Arabzada performed with distinction in the 2019 Asian Futsal Championship which was hosted by Iran and in which the Afghanistan’s National Futsal Team ranked second.

The Afghanistan’s Football Federation, specifically the Futsal Committee, said that Mr. Arabzada was one of the key figures in the national futsal team, adding that the death of this top player will have a very bad influence on other members of the national team.

 “His death was a tragedy for us, Ali Arabzada was one of the key players of National Futsal Team and it is a great tragedy for the football and futsal community of Afghanistan,” said Abdurazq Mumrak, coach of the national futsal team.

In the meantime, a number of social media users, especially fans of the national futsal team, have reacted to the death of this well-experienced player.

Ali Arabzada was living in Iran and played for Afghanistan's national futsal team for several years.
