Tens of thousands of cricket fans today (Tuesday) celebrated the national team's advancement to the semi-finals of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 in the capital and several provinces.

Fans and citizens, applauding the performance of the national cricket team players in the T20 World Cup, hope that the national team will defeat South Africa in the semi-final and advance to the final of the competition.

Faraz Khan, a resident of Nangarhar, said about this advancement: "Only cricket makes us a competitor to the world and brings us the joy of the entire world."

Fazal Rahman, a resident of Kabul, said: "It created extreme happiness. Although Afghanistan has no happiness, cricket has brought a lot of joy. Some laughed, some cried, and some were so happy that they couldn’t even speak."

Nangyali, one of the residents of Kunar province, said: "We came to the square where there was a cake ceremony. All the fans expressed their joy there."

On the other hand, following this victory, the players and coaches of the national cricket team shed tears of joy at the World Cup venue.

Cricket fans added that they would love to see the national cricket team in the final of the T20 World Cup.

Samiullah, a resident of Paktia, said: "When I heard in the hospital that Afghanistan won the match, I came to celebrate with my wounded and broken hands. We will defeat South Africa and bring the cup to Afghanistan."

Abdul Hamid Rahimzai, one of the residents of Kabul, saying: "I have never been this happy in my life, and now I can't control my emotions."

Afghanistan will face South Africa in the semi-finals of this competition on Thursday morning.
