Afghanistan's U-20 national football team, known as the Red Shirts, faced Australia on Monday afternoon in their second match of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers.
The first half ended in a 0-0 draw between the two teams, but in the second half, Australia secured a 2-0 victory.
The national team coach attributed the loss to individual mistakes.
Mohammad Yousuf Mohandeszada, the head coach of the U-20 national football team, said: "I wish we had conceded a goal due to a team mistake, so we could say we didn’t have a plan, but we conceded due to individual errors. We will work on these individual mistakes and aim to deliver a better performance in the next matches."
The U-20 players expressed confidence that they would achieve a positive result in their next group match against Saudi Arabia, scheduled for Wednesday.
Sadiq, the goalkeeper for the U-20 national team, said: "We will try to put on a good performance in the upcoming matches to bring joy to our people."
Afghanistan's football team faced defeat against Australia in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers after winning their first match against Macau with a 1-0 score.
Afghanistan is placed in Group D of the AFC Asian Cup 2025 Qualifiers, alongside Australia, Macau, Saudi Arabia, and Palestine.
