Afghan MMA Fights Postponed Over Coronavirus

Afghan mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters Baz Mohammad Mubariz and Ahmad Wali Hotak both had fights in the Absolute Championship Akhmat (ACA) competition postponed due to the coronavirus.

Both fighters’ matches were scheduled for April in Russia.

“We are disappointed because both of our champions were well-prepared, and both were in quarantine for the competition,” said Darmal Laho, coordinator of Afghan MMA matches in Russia.

Mubariz had matches scheduled for April 3 and April 12 in the ACA.

“I was prepared for the match,” said Mubariz, “this month I was well-prepared to face my Czech rival in the championship.”

Both fighters' matches will be held in July, according to officials.
