Afghanistan Announces Squad for West Indies Test Match

Afghanistan’s Cricket Board (ACB) on Monday announced the 15-man squad for the West Indies Test match which will kick off on Wednesday.

In the batting department: Asghar Afghan, Ihsanullah Janat, Rahmat Shah.

The bowling crew will be spearheaded by captain Rashid Khan, and will also include Nasir Jamal and Zahir Khan.

Afghanistan, who made its Test debut against India last year, has enjoyed success against Bangladesh and Ireland in its previous Test outings and at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, India.

After losing the ODI series, Afghanistan bounced back to clinch the T20I series against West Indies last week.

Afghanistan all-rounder Karim Janat, who bagged six wickets from two games in the T20I series against West Indies, has been awarded with a maiden Test call-up, alongside 20-year-old Nijat Masood, for the one-off Test beginning Wednesday.

This will be Afghanistan's second home Test, after they had beaten Ireland by seven wickets at the same venue in March this year, to register their first win of the format.
