Girls Volleyball Competition Underway in Herat

A girls volleyball competition started on Sunday in western Herat province with eight club teams participating in two groups.

This is the second year that such as competition was held in Herat.

The athletes have welcomed the competition and believe that such a “competition will be develop the volleyball sport in the provinces.

“I have a great interest and have made a huge effort and I am sure that I will be successful in this competition,” said Fatema Ahmadi, a volleyball player.

Marwa Saeei, another volleyball player, said: “Our coach was a lady and we were able to have very good trainings and will win the competition.”

The players said they had begun training for this competition over the past two months.

The sport is developing in Herat, day by day, and eight girls’ team currently are active in the province, according to officials hosting the competitions.

Last year, four girls were elected to the national team after the first round of this competition, officials added.
