Two policemen were killed and 12 more were injured in an explosion near Serena Hotel in Quetta, Pakistan, on Sunday evening.
Six civilians were also wounded in the blast that targeted a vehicle carrying 15 policemen near Tanzeem Chowk, Balochistan government spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani said in a statement as quoted by Dawn News.
He said the improvised explosive device (IED) was placed on a motorbike.
"The policemen were on duty when the explosion occurred, leading to the martyrdom of two," police official Azhar Ikram said as quoted by Geo News.
Pakistan’s Interior Ministry Sheikh Rasheed ordered the police to carry out an investigation into the incident.
"Cowardly acts of terrorism cannot demoralise our forces," the minister said. "The Centre will provide full support to the government of Balochistan to maintain the law and order."
No group has claimed responsibility for the blast.
