Israel Signals Readiness for Ceasefire

After 14 months of intense conflict with Hezbollah, Israel has expressed its willingness to consider a ceasefire proposed by the United States and France.

According to Reuters, the Israeli cabinet is preparing the groundwork for a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah in Lebanon. French President Emmanuel Macron and US President Joe Biden are spearheading the diplomatic efforts, aiming to announce the ceasefire between Beirut and Tel Aviv within hours.

While the ceasefire negotiations are progressing, no specific details regarding its duration or implementation have been disclosed yet.

Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the US State Department, confirmed in a press briefing that Washington is fully committed to facilitating the ceasefire. White House National Security Spokesperson John Kirby also corroborated the efforts but cautioned that "nothing is done until everything is done."

The 14-month war has claimed the lives of Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, along with several senior members of the movement. Thousands of civilians have also tragically lost their lives, highlighting the urgent need for a resolution.
