Officials from the Hamas movement say that Salah al-Bardaweel, a senior political leader of the group, was killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Gaza.
Media outlets close to Hamas have reported that Bardaweel and his wife were killed in an airstrike on the Khan Younis area.
Israeli officials have not yet commented on the incident.
Reuters has reported that as a result of today's (Sunday, March 23) Israeli attacks on parts of the Gaza Strip, at least 30 Palestinians have been killed.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military spokesperson has issued an evacuation warning to residents in western Rafah.
Hamas has accused Israel of violating the terms of the January ceasefire agreement, stating that Tel Aviv has refused to begin negotiations aimed at ending the war and withdrawing its forces from Gaza.
According to statistics from Palestinian health authorities, more than 49,000 Palestinians have been killed during Israel's attacks so far.
