Almost 60 Days Pass Since Food, Medicine Into Gaza Blocked

It has been almost 60 days since any food, fuel, medicine, or other essential supplies have entered Gaza.

Reuters reported that, the blockade imposed by Israel has severely affected the lives of 2.3 million Palestinians.

Families are struggling to find food for their children.

In southern Gaza’s Khan Younis area, under the tents of displaced families, children and their relatives are receiving food from a charitable kitchen.

Hani Abu Qasim, a worker at the charity kitchen, said: "This charity opens its doors to these people who come to us from far distances. They come to us from early morning to get one meal. Today the number has increased. The food provided to them before the closure of the crossing depended on rice, meat, chicken and the like. Today our food is limited to several meals between pasta, lentils and rice.”

Meanwhile, the communication director for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Juliette Touma, said that the blockade of Gaza is a silent killer for children and the elderly.

Since March 2 of this year, Israel has completely halted the entry of all goods and aid to the 2.3 million residents of the Gaza Strip.
