Global Leaders Urge De-Escalation as Iran-Israel Conflict Intensifies

As unprecedented military clashes between Iran and Israel intensify, widespread international reactions continue to unfold.

The European Union, the United States, China, and several other nations have called for de-escalation and a return to dialogue.

Meanwhile, Russia and Turkey have announced their readiness to mediate the crisis between Iran and Israel.

The spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs once again criticized the West's support for Israel, stating that during the nuclear negotiation process with the US, Israel attacked Iran—a move he claims was coordinated and backed by Washington.

Ismail Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran's Foreign Ministry, said: “We were in the midst of a diplomatic process when faced with Israeli aggression. Such an act would not have been possible without US coordination, cooperation, and support. This has essentially rendered the negotiations meaningless. It is now up to the United States to adopt a clear and transparent position in this situation.”

On the other side, the Israeli military commander stated that their operations are aimed at dismantling Iran’s military command and nuclear facilities, and that the offensive will intensify in the coming days.

Eyal Zamir, Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, said: "From the moment we launched the campaign, we acted with surprise and deception. In the opening strike, we eliminated the top military command. We will continue to intensify our operations and, in doing so, strengthen our security for years to come."

US President Donald Trump expressed hope for a potential agreement between the two sides.

Trump said: "Well I hope there's going to be a deal. I think it's time for a deal and we'll see what happens but sometimes they have to fight it out but we're going to see what happens. I think there's a good chance there will be a deal.”

The president of the European Commission also voiced serious concern over the conflict, announcing that she is in contact with Israeli officials and other parties to help reduce tensions.

Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, said: “We have voiced our strong concerns over Iran's nuclear and ballistic missile program. A diplomatic solution remains the best way in the long run, to address concerns about Iran's nuclear program. And Europe remains committed to finding a lasting solution through a negotiated deal.”

On the other hand, some Iranian citizens have expressed support for their country’s attacks on Israel, calling them necessary.

Ahmad, an Iranian citizen, said: “Iranian leaders had to respond, because not doing so would have brought even more pressure on the Iranian people. We are truly grateful to the armed forces.”

Another Iranian citizen stated: “We are now engaged in conflict with Israel. We did not want to harm Israel or its people—we wanted Israel to back down, but it did not.”

Meanwhile, as the conflict intensifies, Iran has imposed restrictions on internet access and social media to control domestic information flow. The price of oil has also surged by up to 11% on global markets.
