European Union leaders reached an agreement on migration after almost 10 hours of chaotic talks in Brussels over the sensitive issue threatening their union and zone of free travel, as well as German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government, Reuters said in a report on Friday. 

“EU28 leaders have agreed on (summit) conclusions, including on migration,” the chairman of the talks, Donald Tusk, said, as quoted by Reuters. 

EU diplomats said the leaders finally found agreement on a vaguely worded concept centering on reception centers to deal with migrants and asylum seekers in EU nations which would volunteer to have them.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel had been under intense pressure to find a breakthrough to stave off a government crisis at home.

The deal comes at a time that Afghanistan has the second largest number of migrants and refugees in European countries.
