Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, said that surrendering to the demands of Hamas would be a terrible defeat for the Israeli government.
Benjamin Netanyahu rejected Hamas's proposal for a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of Israeli hostages, adding that the end of the battles in Gaza would be a great victory for Hamas and Iran.
The Prime Minister of Israel said: "Capitulating to Hamas's demands would be a terrible defeat for the State of Israel. It would be a great victory for Hamas, Iran and the entire axis of evil. It would demonstrate terrible weakness to our friends, and to our enemies. This weakness would only bring closer the next war and it would push off the next peace agreement because alliances are not made with the weak and the defeated. Alliances are made with the strong and the victorious. Therefore, Israel will not agree to Hamas' demands, which would mean surrender, it will continue fighting until all of its objectives are achieved."
The number of victims of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has reached 34,683.
The Gaza Health Ministry reported that since the beginning of the battles between Hamas and Israel, 78,018 Palestinians have been injured.
Based on these statistics, at least 29 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip in the past day, and 110 others have been injured.
“I was at home and between me and them there was only about 500 meters. We heard the strike and shortly after they told us the house of Abu Saba al-Attar was hit, so we went, we found it hit and praise to God. Were there wanted people (by the army)? Sure, there were wanted people. There were girls, women, infants and children.
They are all wanted by the Israeli army,” said Khaled Al-Afifi, a displaced Palestinian.
“We were out of the house, all of a sudden they told me ‘they are targeting your family’s house’ so I went, I arrived home and found that the home was all destroyed and I asked who died when they told me your wife and children died. So I said praise to God, this is a favour from God,” said Mahmoud Al-Attar, another displaced Palestinian.
This attack took place after Hamas also targeted the Kerem Shalom crossing in the south of the Gaza Strip by firing more than ten rockets.
The Israeli army announced that as a result of this attack, at least three Israeli soldiers were killed and eleven others were injured.
Yoav Gallant, the Israeli Defense Minister, said: "We identified alarming signs that Hamas actually does not intend to go to any agreement with us. This means (we will start military) actions in Rafah and the entire Gaza Strip in the very near future."
Recently, Hamas asked Israel to stop the battles in the Gaza Strip and withdraw its soldiers from the city in exchange for the release of Israeli hostages.
A Hamas official told Reuters that yesterday, ceasefire talks with Israel in Egypt ended without any progress.
