MEHWAR: Kol-e-Hashmat Khan Declared A Protected Area

Government recently announced that Kol-e-Hashmat Khan – 191 acres of land on the outskirts of Kabul – has been declared a protected area.

Boasting a lake, which is home to at least 120 different species of birds, this area will be preserved as a green zone.

This is the fourth protected area to be declared in the country after Band-e-Amir in Bamiyan, Wakhan National Park in Badakhshan and Dara-e-Shah Folodi in Bamiyan.

Kol-e-Hashmat was always a favorite sport of the late Afghan King Zahir Shah.

Host Massoud Malik discusses the topic with Abdullah Jalil Sultani, spokesman of Kabul municipality department.
