Amid reports of disagreements over the list of the participants for the Beijing peace meeting on Afghanistan, the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday said that it expects the plan for such a meeting to be implemented in the near future.

When asked whether the meeting was cancelled, Geran Hewad, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that Kabul was not aware of such reports.

Gen. Scott Miller, the commander of US and NATO forces in Afghanistan, and acting Defense Minister Assadullah Khalid on Sunday met First Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum in Sheberghan, the center of northern Jawzjan province, where they discussed the security situation in the north and the fight against the insurgents.

Gen. Miller said the trip involved “talking about operations in the north and just making sure we are coordinated across all the security pillars.”
