The head of US Central Command, Gen. Michael Kurilla, claimed that Daesh's Khorasan branch in Afghanistan seeks to expand its ranks and develop the capability to "inspire, enable or direct attacks in the region and beyond."

Speaking to the House Committee on Armed Services, Kurilla said the group’s ultimate goal is to "attack the US homeland."
