Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob, the defense minister of the caretaker cabinet, on Thursday evening in an audio message ordered all Taliban forces to respect the general amnesty that was announced by the Taliban leadership following the takeover of Kabul.
Yaqoob in his message said that following the amnesty announcement no one is allowed to take revenge against anyone in the country.
According to Yaqoob, any Taliban member who has any personal conflict should take the case to a court and solve the problem there.
The defense minister also said he has heard reports that Taliban forces have killed people with whom they had personal conflicts, and he said such cases will not be tolerated.
The defense minister’s message follow allegations by a number of families of former security personnel who say some members of their families have been jailed by Taliban forces.
A number of families told TOLOnews that their members are still being detained and urged the Taliban to free them.
In the meantime, the caretaker cabinet has established a special security commission for Kabul’s security, an official told TOLOnews.
Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, deputy prime minister, will chair the new commission which has pledged to bring order and security to Kabul city.
