It has been very clear from the start that Indian tactics in its current escalation with Pakistan have been heavily influenced by Israel and the Russia-Ukraine War. Indian drones, made in Israel, aimed at hitting civilian areas such as market streets and sports stadiums, is the latest example of civilian life being endangered.
On the one hand, Indian media is propagating a narrative that the Pakistani air defence has been damaged. However, there has been no evidence that the incoming drones have caused any major damage. It is quite obvious that Indian drones (HAROP) have attempted to target Pakistani air defence systems at a few locations but the drones have been made ineffective or shot down.
The Indian media reported that they shot down a Pakistani missile with the S-400, but so far no evidence has been shown of the use of the S-400. Indian media is also claiming that the S-400 was used to intercept Pakistani missiles launched last night but Pakistan is saying that it has not launched any missiles toward India as yet.
The Pakistan government is reassuring its public after the latest drone attacks, but the rescheduling of PSL matches after the Indian drone’s hit near Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium shows that the escalation is causing alarm among the general public.
In today's post-truth era of social media both India and Pakistan are trying to push through their narratives while the international community is trying to determine the facts.
