Shpageeza Cricket League Final: Kabul vs. Mis Ainak

Kabul Eagles will play against the Mis Ainak Knights in the final match of Shpageeza Cricket League on Wednesday.

Wednesday’s match will be played at the Kabul International Stadium at 12:00 pm local time.

Kabul Eagles and Mis Ainak Knights met in Qualifier 1, where Kabul had the upper hand. Mis Ainak Knights beat Band-e Amir in Qualifier 2 to earn their final spot.

Kabul Eagles have 4 wins and one loss from 5 matches.

Noor Ali Zadran is their top run scorer and has made 222 runs at a strike rate of 139, with 18 fours and 10 sixes.

On Tuesday, an excellent knock from Bahar Shinwari at the top and Shahidullah Kamal at the lower order helped Mis Ainak Knights qualify for the final of the league beating a strong Band-e Amir  side by 5 wickets in the second qualifier, according to an ACB website report.

Band-e Amir opted to bat first after winning the toss and posted 178/8 in the allotted 20 overs as Usman Ghani continued his “brilliant form in the tournament with a fabulous knock” of 64 while Asghar Afghan and Nasir Jamal scored 23 each while Dawlat Zadran and Shahpur Zadran took 2 wickets each for the Knights, it said.

In response, the Mis Ainak Knights lost Mohammad Shahzad early in the powerplay as Sharafuddin Ashraf continued his great form with the ball.

“The in-form pair of Bahar Shinwari and Hashmatullah Shahidi put on a stand of 64 runs for the second wicket before Shinwari lost his wicket to Waqar Salamkheil in the 12th over as the Band-e Amir  made a good comeback in the game taking Shahidi’s wicket in the next over to send both set batsmen back to the pavilion,” according to ACB.

However, a knock from left-hander Shahidullah Kamal “snatched” the game back in Knights’ favor as he put a crucial partnership of 70 runs with Afsar Zazai who complimented him well with a much-needed cameo.

“The pair ensured the Knights were able to chase the target in the penultimate over to qualify for the Final of the tournament,” it added.

Mis Ainak Knights finished the league stage at the 2nd spot in the league with 3 wins and 2 losses from 5 matches.

Hashmatullah Shahidi is their top run scorer and has struck 326 runs at a strike rate of 149.

The Shpageeza matches started on September 6 and will run to September 16th.

The tournament has six teams - Amo Sharks, Band-e Amir Dragons, Boost Defenders, Kabul Eagles, Mis Ainak Knights and Spin Ghar Tigers.

The Mis Ainak Knights won the tournament last year.
