A boxing competition was kicked off in Kabul on Monday in which 317 athletes from all Kabul clubs attended.
Organizers said the competition will continue for ten days and will select 52 athletes for the Kabul team.
“Top athletes will be selected for the national teams to compete in international events,” said Waisuddin Ghawsi, an official of Afghanistan Boxing Federation.
Boxers said the event is a good opportunity for them to explore their talents.
“I want to compete in international competitions. I want to encourage the youth for sports,” said Shabeer, a boxer.
“I will be a strong boxer and will bring honor to my country,” said Ilias, a boxer.
