Fahim Anwari, a member of Afghanistan’s national swimming team, is preparing for the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and hopes to represent the country successfully.
Anwari, who has trained for six years, said he was selected from among 30 of the best swimmers in the country to represent Afghanistan in the international event.
Anwari said that he will travel to Russia next week as part of a program to prepare for the event.
“There is a big hope that I will contribute to how Afghanistan is represented. I will go to Russia for seven or eight months for training by international coaches,” he said.
“We are conducting exercise sessions five days a week. Fahim is one of the best swimmers on our team,” said Mohammad Aman Hamidi, a member of the national swimming team.
The swimming federation officials said they are hopeful about achieving success at the Olympic games.
“The Olympic games are one of the top events in the world… I am sure Fahim will well-represent his country,” said Ali Qasim Hamidi, head of the swimming federation.
According to the federation, Fahim Anwari will also travel to the UAE for swimming competitions.
