Afghan Cricketers Head to UAE for ODI Series against Ireland

Afghanistan’s national cricket team on Tuesday left Kabul for the United Arab Emirates where they will play a three-match ODI (One Day International) series against Ireland later this month as part of the International Cricket Council's (ICC) ODI league.

As part of the ICC ODI league matches, the series between both teams was initially scheduled to be hosted in the UAE. However, due to visa restrictions by the UAE in the wake of COVID-19, ACB planned to have Oman as the alternate venue, the Afghanistan Cricket Board said.

It added that the UAE authorities granted visas to Afghan players and relevant officials later on Monday night and the decision was taken to reschedule the series in the UAE.

Asghar Afghan, Rahmat Shah, Nawin-Ul-Haq, Hashmat Shahidi, Yamin Ahmadzai, Osman Ghani, Azmatullah Omarzai, Rahmanullah Gurboz, Sayed Ahmad Shirzad, Najib Zadran, Jawed Ahmadi, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Gulbuddin Naib, Mujib Rahman and Sharafuddin Ashraf are the national team members who will be part of the squad to play the ODI matches against Ireland.

Afghanistan and Ireland have faced each other in 29 ODI matches since 2010.
