Football: Sar-e-Pul Defeats Faryab 2-1 in Afghan Champions League

Sar-e-Pul’s Khadim FC defeated Faryab’s Khurasan team 2-1 in the Afghanistan Champions League's match in Balkh province on Saturday.

“The match was crucial for us as we finished top among the northern teams,” said Mohammad Asif Yadgar, head couch of Khadim FC. 

“This year the league has been held at a high level. The league will boost the capacity of players,” he said.

The last match of the second round of the league will be held in Balkh’s Football Federation Stadium today in which Takhar’s Mawj Sahel will face Kunduz’s Wahidi team.

12 teams from six zones are competing in the league, and the matches will be held in Kabul, Herat and Balkh provinces.

The first round of the league took place in Kabul, and the second in Balkh.  

The third round will begin in the western province of Herat on Wednesday. 

The Afghanistan Football Federation said that the champion of this year’s league competition will represent Afghanistan in the Asian competitions “if it can meet the necessary criteria of a professional club.”

The clubs competing in the league are: Khost's Cloub Atalan, Parwan’s Jabal Siraj, Laghman’s Jawanan, Kabul’s Istiqlal, Herat’s Sorkh Poshan, Helmand’s Esmat Laghmani, Farah’s Abu Muslim, Takhar’s Mawj Sahel, Kandahar’s Aino Mina, Sar-e-Pul’s Khadim FC, Kunduz’s Wahidy and Faryab’s Khurasan.

In today’s match, Takhar’s Mawj Sahel will face Kunduz’s Wahidi that will kick-off at 3:30 pm local time.
