Afghan Blind Athlete Wins Award in Swimming Competition

Wali Mohammad Noori, a blind Afghan athlete who is famous for running, won a medal in a swimming competition held in the UK on Saturday.

The competition was held among 100 disabled athletes, and Noori won the third position after swimming 50 meters in 59 seconds.

In addition to securing the third position, Noori was awarded an honorary medal for his achievements despite being blind.

Talking to TOLOnews, Noori said disability is not inability, adding that his disability inspired him to work hard.

Noori was a member of the Afghan security forces and lost his sight in a landmine blast in the southern province of Helmand ten years ago.

He now lives in the United Kingdom and has participated in many running races, winning many awards.
