The former head of the Afghanistan Cricket Board has reportedly been detained but security officials have yet to confirm or otherwise comment on his arrest.
Videos went viral on social media showing that security forces prevented Fazli from going to the compound of the ACB.
The videos, which seem to be recorded within the area of the ACB, show that some individuals with high-profile appearances are trying to enter the ACB.
The reports, which come from anonymous government sources, say that Fazli along with armed individuals tried to enter the ACB with forged fake documents that he obtained for himself as head of the ACB.
According to the sources, Fazli was arrested on charges of making fake documents.
“Unfortunately, if the chaos keeps going and the unprofessional appointments take place, there is a big possibility that the International Cricket Council will impose sanctions or restrictions,” said Iftikhar Ahmad Samsor.
Although, no governmental institutions including the Minister of Interior made any comment in this regard, some figures close to the ACB said Fazli’s intention was to secure a seat at the ACB.
“The former head of ACB, Azizullah Fazli, tried to enter the ACB by force. He has been tested three times before, the Afghan fans of cricket were not happy with his administration,” he said.
TOLOnews have tried to obtain a comment of the ACB but was not able to do so.
